Mood disorder?

This morning, the topic from the DJ attracted me once again. And it does help to makes my journey to work more relax despite of the jam. It was about mood disorder, and the famous actress Catherine Zeta Jones was hospitalised for this mental health problem. Is this your first time to hear about this diseases? It was mine too...Apparently when a person was in either positive mood or negative mood for too long of a time, that person might have mood disorder problem. According to the psychiatrist, mood disorders are not caused by stress, but they can be amplified by stress. I mood used to swing from one end to the other, sometimes with reasons and sometime don't. But luckily mine wont stay to long because i will try to find out what actually causes my mood swing and will try to "correct" it in a way so that everything will get back to normal. The psychiatrist also tell the same thing but in a more scientific way/term. He also mention that mood disorder can be caused by hormone changes as well and thus proper medication would help. So next time if you have similar problem or other mental worries, don't think that it is your problem, maybe it is your body dysfunction and you shouldn't feel shy to reach out for help.

Are you worry of cancer?

Most of the people, including me were extremely scared of cancer.  More and more young people were getting cancer nowadays. I have several friends similar my age were unfortunately suffer or die of cancer recently. This has really made me think that life is so unexpected and we should live life to the fullest. Do what we want to do, live the life we enjoyed and be happy everyday.
"Our souls are hungry for meaning, for the sense that we have figured out how to live so that our lives matter, so that the world will be at least a little bit different for our having passed through it. . . . What frustrates us and robs our lives of joy is this absence of meaning. . . . Does our being alive matter?"  Quote from Harold S. Kushner

For those warriors who are fighting bravely with cancer, don't ever give up! I wish you all the best and will pray for you to get well soon.

Does pulling muscle really help improve heatlh?

Recently we were being introduced by my brother-in-law a type of exercise method that believed to be able to cure many of the diseases like high blood pressure, heart problem, diabetes, knee problem and others. The method is simple, basically is to stretch your body's muscle, called 拉筋 in Chinese. This method was founded by a Chinese man name Xiao Hong Chi. He believe that went our age getting older, our muscle become cramp and this causes many of the diseases. So by pulling the muscle back to straight, our illness will slowly heal. Refer to below photo on how to do the stretching. I use a special table design for this purpose but you can always find chairs to support your body and put your leg straight up leaning on the wall or door like shown in the second picture. Try to straighten your leg as much as possible but you may find it difficult the first few times. Then, forced your other leg to touch the floor. You can wear the strap ankle weights on your ankle to make it touch the floor. After about 10 minutes or more, you may change leg and repeat the same steps.
It was really painful the first few time i try to do this but after couples of session, the pain disappeared and i was able to pull my leg as straight as possible. My mother has done this for more than 3 months and she was able to squat now which previously impposible. She also mention that her legs feel more powerful and comfortable when climbing the stairs. It is an easy exercise of just 20 minutes, so why not have a try and you may benefited from it as well. Happy trying!

First H1N1 Flu in Malaysia

Today Malaysia Gov reported that we have the very first case of H1N1 flu case. This 21 years old boy just came back from US. As such, Gov has quarantine his family as well as asking those people who are in the same flight with him to contact Gov.
I really hope that it doesnt get spread out futher. Luckily it seems like this H1N1 flu is not as serious as the previous SARS virus. I guess the most important thing is to keep our body stay as fit as possible by maintaing a strong immune system. None of the medecine in this world is more powerful than our own healthy and strong immune system. They are our soldiers to fight agains bacteria and viruses. Healthy&balance diet, regular exercise and good emotional are the keys to strong immune system. For me, as much as i try to obtain a healthy and balance diet, sometime it is too hard to keep it up as we like to eat good food :) so the best alternative for me to get natural and balance diet is from e.excel products...IF you interested, do take a look on below website :

What we should or shouln't eat

Recently me and my husband were actively searching for the right diet for us. My father in-law told us that for type O people, they needs meet...this has triggered my husband curiosity to find out more and it lead him to the website below :
http://www.drlam.com/blood_type_diet/

I am type A and my husband is type O. Type A person needs more vegetables, seafood and less red meat. Unlike type O people, they need more protein such as red meat but try to avoid grains, beans and nut.
I am a steak lover, so is really sad to discover this. According to the info on that website, type A people can digest a small portion of red meat only and it will cause slow down in metabolism if over eating. No wonder i cant control my weight even though i eat so less only. One more surprised finding is that i shouldn't be eating papaya but in fact i ate it everyday :(
It is also interesting to know that coffee is okay for type A people, this is the good new for me, but i don't intend to drink it everyday as well.
The rules of thumb is - Try to eat a balance diet and dont be too choosy on particular food ~ by doctor Goh :)

Strange symptom

Recently i went to toilet very often, as often as once every 2 hours. I did went to see doctor but you know lar, those clinic doctor basically cant do much. He just check my urine sample and told me there is no bacteria infection. It's sometimes very irritating as i have to walk to toilet so often in a days a the office. Furthermore, i was worried if there this can signal any underlying health problem....
Well, thanks to internet, i did some research and found below article :
http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/70782.php

Seems like there are many reasons that could possibly lead to this frequent urination problem. The cause that make me worry the most is the diabetes as my mum is a diabetes patient and it can be inherited. :(

Anyway, lets think positively and i will go to have a quick check on my blood sugar level tomorrow :)

Blood replacement

I brought my dad to have follow up checking and at the same time i plan to replace blood for my dad's usage during his operation. So me and JJ went to the lab and fill up the form. After that we have to go through a simple checking. I tot i am sure to qualify as i donate blood before many years ago :)....but to my surprise, the lab assistant say that i am not qualify before my hemoglobin is just enough for myself and no extra for donation :(.. my scale is only 11 and to be qualified, need to be in the range of 13-17...too bad.
Next is JJ's turn, haha..the result also show that he is not qualified but the lab assistant was not convince by the result as he say normally guys should have enough blood to donate (especially for him, so big size...hehe..this is what i think lar, not mention by lab assistant :))
SO the lab assistant take another blood sample from his arm (the first time is from the finger) and luckily this time, he is slidely more than 13 - Qualify!
According to the lab assistant, we need 3 things to built hemoglobin - Iron, B12 and Folic. Iron is the most important part and it can be found in meat and cockles.
Another thing we have learnt from the lab assistant is that for those whose family have high blood pressure history, better donate blood often as it can helps regulate blood circulation and hence reduce the risk to get high blood pressure.
It is a good learning for me and JJ :)
