Creative play developed by children

Children like to develop their own creative play. I found that sometimes they don't play with their toys, instead they love to play with things like TV remote control, car or house keys, rubber band, clothspin, cloth or dress. My daughter can play with a rubber band for half an hour or fold a handkerchief for minutes. That is why I don't prefer buying her some expensive toys because her time spent with toys are less than the time she plays with these things that are non intended to be her toys [also because I am a stingy mommy :)]. Recently she created new creative play. She seems enjoyed sitting inside the plastic basket which is used to keep her toys. She can sit inside while eating or drinking for quite a long time. Maybe she just feel more secure sitting inside it? :)
